International Women's Day (IWD) grew out of the labour movement. The seeds were planted in 1908, when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter working hours, better pay and the right to vote.It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

In Islam a woman is a completely independent personality. She can make any contract or bequest in her own name. She is entitled to inherit in her position as mother, as wife, as sister and as daughter. She has perfect liberty to choose her husband. The Qur'an's basic stance is that Muslim women are first and foremost Muslims, the religious equals of men (e.g., Q. 33:73). It refers to women and men as one another's “protectors.” (Q. 9:71).

We always seek happiness in everything; everyone has his/her own standards when it comes to happiness, but why we need to be happy?

It is said that happy people are more positive and more creative, because happiness is not a feeling that passes away or stays for a short period of time, it tends to Lower Blood Pressure, Lower Heart Rate, Strengthen Your Immune System, Speed Recovery From Illness and much more....

Happiness helps us to connect with others, gives us hope and makes us feel satisfied and confident.

How to be happy?

As happiness is a matter of a self discussion, things that makes you happy can vary from one person to another, Smile, Exercise, Good sleep,Balanced diet, Learn how to breath, Find clarity, Explore what happiness means to you, Go out, See friends....

Don’t know where to start?

Make a bucket list: prepare a jar or a Box and write small notes with everything you want to do that makes you happy put them in the ‘ bucket’ and start doing them one by one.

Keep a gratitude journal: write in it what do you already have or happened to you that made you happy!

As Muslims our religion helps us to maintain balanced emotions, knowing that Allah (GOD) is the protector and the maker of everything and everyone, submission to God makes things easier and helps us be in control of our emotions. Islam emanate that connection in our daily lives when we deal with others.

On the 20th of March, 2013 the United Nations started celebrating the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world. That was following several years of campaigning by Jayme Illien, a United Nations adviser. After growing up in one of Mother Theresa's Kolkata orphanages, an American family adopted Illien. He was keen to end global inequality.
